Crockpot BBQ Chicken

A flavorful and tender pulled chicken recipe that is perfect for busy days and can be served in various ways.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts, trimmed
  • 1 1/4 cups barbecue sauce (e.g., sweet Baby Ray’s Honey BBQ)
  • 1/2 cup Italian dressing
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar (can reduce to 1/8 cup or omit)
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Spray the inside of a large crockpot with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Season the trimmed chicken breasts with salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder.
  3. Place them at the bottom of the crockpot.
  4. Combine the barbecue sauce, Italian dressing, light brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce in a medium bowl.
  5. Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken breasts.
  6. Cover the crockpot with a lid.
  7. Cook on high for 150-180 minutes or low for 300-360 minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
  8. Shred the chicken with two forks directly in the crockpot.
  9. Serve the pulled chicken on buns, rice, or in tacos.

Notes

Add chopped onions or bell peppers for extra flavor. For spiciness, include hot sauce in the sauce mixture. Avoid overcooking by checking earlier.
