Creamy Parmesan Orzo

A warm, simple meal featuring tender chicken, bright asparagus, and a rich, cheesy sauce all cooked in one pot.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound chicken breast, diced
  • 1 cup asparagus, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil over medium heat in a large pot.
  2. Add the diced chicken and cook until browned.
  3. Stir in the asparagus and cook for another 2-3 minutes until tender.
  4. Add the orzo to the pot, followed by the chicken broth and heavy cream.
  5. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer for about 10-12 minutes until the orzo is cooked.
  6. Stir in the Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Serve warm, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

Use low-sodium broth for better salt control. Stir often while simmering to prevent sticking.
