Crispy Beef Tacos

Quick and satisfying crispy beef tacos that are perfect for family gatherings or casual dinners at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet (1 ounce) taco seasoning mix
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 12 corn or small flour tortillas
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil (for frying tortillas)
  • Shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, salsa, fresh cilantro (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned and no longer pink (about 5-7 minutes). Drain off any excess fat.
  2. Add chopped onion to the skillet with the beef and cook until softened, about 3-5 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Stir in taco seasoning mix and 1/2 cup water. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Prepare tortillas by warming corn tortillas slightly or heating 1/2 cup vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  5. Fry tortillas in hot oil for 15-20 seconds per side until slightly golden. Fold and fry for another 30-60 seconds until crispy. Remove and drain.
  6. Fill each crispy shell with seasoned ground beef and top with fixings like shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, cheese, sour cream, salsa, and cilantro.
  7. Serve immediately hot and enjoy!

Notes

Store leftover taco filling separately from tortillas in airtight containers in the fridge. Reheat before serving.
