French Onion Funeral Potatoes

A creamy, cheesy potato bake topped with crispy French fried onions, perfect for potlucks and holiday gatherings.

  • 2 pounds frozen hash browns
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup French fried onions
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter (melted)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the frozen hash browns, sour cream, cream of chicken soup, cheddar cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Mix well.
  3. Spread the mixture evenly in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  5. Top with French fried onions and drizzle with melted butter.
  6. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the onions are golden brown and crispy.
  7. Cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For best results, use full-fat sour cream for a richer texture. You can make this dish ahead of time and store it in the fridge until ready to bake.
