Cajun Chicken Sloppy Joes

A fun and flavorful twist on a classic dish made with ground chicken and Cajun spices.

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 brioche buns
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground chicken over medium heat until browned.
  2. Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic; cook until vegetables are tender.
  3. Stir in tomato sauce, Cajun seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 10 minutes.
  4. In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in milk and cheese, whisking until smooth to make the cheese sauce.
  5. Toast the brioche buns.
  6. Assemble the Sloppy Joes by piling the Cajun chicken mixture on the toasted buns and drizzling with cheddar cheese sauce. Serve immediately.

Notes

For a spicier kick, add more Cajun seasoning or diced jalapeños. You can substitute ground chicken for turkey if desired.
